Steigenberger Nile Palace Hotel

The Steigenberger Nile Palace hotel stands at the very top of the list of 5 star hotels in Luxor, with its high standard of accommodation and first class hospitality you'll be hard pushed to find better. With stunning views across the Nile to the West Bank, home of the valley of Kings and Queens, the Steigenberger Nile Palace is situated in the heart of Luxor and is the perfect base from which to explore this wondrous city.

Other holidays makers have already commented below about their memorable stay at the Steigenberger Nile Palace but here are our views to add to the long list of favourable comments.

On arriving at Luxor Airport, as previously arranged with the hotel, we found our driver ready and waiting to help us with our luggage (please note that the transportation whilst extremely comfortable was not, as advertised, a limousine as we know it back home) however at the very reasonable price of 12 euros each way, for both of us, it was excellent value.  We arrived at the hotel in a matter of minutes and we were immediately shown to our room which was comfortable, spacious, well decorated and had a delightful (if somewhat small) balcony overlooking the courtyard.  Along with the usual mini-bar, satellite television, hair dryer, air conditioning and varied complimentary toiletries, the hotel provides in each room internet access (terms arranged with customer services) and a safety deposit box (free of charge).

A lavish buffet breakfast, with a wide selection of local and international specialities on offer, was served in the relaxed surroundings of the air conditioned Nubian Restaurant on our first morning, however, on subsequent days we preferred  an earlier breakfast on the terrace enabling us to soak up the warmth of the sun whilst taking in the splendid views overlooking the Nile. The staff both in the restaurant and on the terrace were pleasant and extremely attentive, and happily arranged for pots of hot water for my green tea along with the usual fruit juices, coffee, etc.

Relaxing around the swimming pool was delightful, no need to get up at the crack of dawn to put out towels to reserve a sun bed.  At all times of the day there was always a vacant lounger with the pool staff providing a first class service of freshly laundered towels and chilled refreshments.

After an action packed day, we were grateful to return to the hotel and take advantage of the hotel's facilities at the Health Centre for a relaxing massage.  Friendly and experienced staff pampered and revived us ready for the evening.

The hotel courtyard, surrounded by the Italian and Lebanese restaurants, is the venue for an hour or two of nightly entertainment (although a little repetitive during the two week holiday it was by far the best on offer from any of the major hotels in Luxor)   After our evening meal we were privileged to be able to  listen to the music and enjoy elevated views of the shows from the comfort our balcony overlooking the courtyard.  As the entertainment finished no later than 10.30 each evening we were never disturbed by any noise, so we regarded the courtyard view a big plus.  We did however checkout the Nile view rooms and have to say if you are planning on spending a fair amount of time on your balcony then it's well worth the extra money for the breathtaking views.  There are however many excellent areas in the hotel and grounds were you can enjoy equally impressive views.

The Steigenberger Nile Palace customer service staff closely monitored the performance of the hotel with frequent telephone calls to check that everything is satisfactory and to see whether they can be of assistance.

For those who have a late flight home like us Reception are able to arrange a late room checkout for the very reasonable cost of less than £20.  It allowed us to enjoy our holiday right up to the last minute instead of hanging around with our suitcases.

We found all the hotel staff efficient and friendly, with the customer service staff ringing us the evening prior to departure to confirm our flight details so that our transport could be arranged for the correct time for the return journey to the airport.

As regular visitors to Luxor we have tried many of the top hotels but this has to be the best hotel to so far, they seem to have just the right balance offering a quality hotel with a friendly service that the guests feel comfortable with.  It's easy to see why so many of the guests we spoke with said they would be more than happy to return to this hotel.
